NBC’s 30 Rock on is a witty, smart, and hilarious comedy about a writer named Liz Lemon and the life of her fellow co-workers. It has the feel of Seinfeld as each of their days is crazier than the ones before. Their outlandish ideas they for their show keeps the audience watching each week. The infamous "MILF Island" is a perfect example of the creative writing of Tina Fey.
With the aftermath of the writers strike, some shows have gone down in viewers as reality shows are gaining more popularity. 30 Rock is one of few shows that are still scripted and they are still running strong! Reality shows have taken over prime-time T.V. This show is refreshing, funny, and just plain fun to watch.
It is great to see a strong female lead in shows today. Tina Fey plays a strong female lead who desperately tries to manage her own hectic life. She shows a vulnerable career woman making her way through a male dominated show. Her traits are eating constantly, yelling at her staff writers, and giving everyone advice even when she doesn’t want to. Liz and her boss have a special relationship in which there is a certain chemistry going on, but nothing happens. It keeps the audience engaged for any future romantic relationships.
30 Rock also has great comedic actors such as Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, and Tina Fey. Each fits their character more perfectly than the next. Baldwin is the head boss, showing little to no emotion with a mix of sarcasm to make the ultimate mix of a big corporate boss. Morgan plays himself with a few twists, he is a mentally unstable comedian obsessed with strippers and his latest invention, a porn video game. Fey plays a head writer, which she was in real life at Saturday Night Live, and gets mixed up in situations for which she cannot escape. This hilarious group makes up the perfect cast for a new age comedy. This show fits all comedy levels, slap-stick, satirical, and sometimes a little romantic comedy is thrown into the mix. I would recommend this show to anyone with a sense of humor.
