About The Show

In 1949, young Scott Rymes is having trouble in school. When his mother, Jeanne, learns that her son is seated in what the teacher describes as the "dumb section" of his class, she allows him to stay home from school for the short remainder of the year. Scott, meanwhile, befriends an older blind woman named Anya Herpick, whom he met while making deliveries for the drug store where he works. He learns that Anya may have to leave town to move to a retirement home for the blind. Unwilling to let her leave, Scott teaches Anya how to use a rod-cane, which will allow her to get around on her own. Anya teaches Scott how to read braille, which he learns easily. Anya discovers that Scott is not "dumb" but that he has dyslexia.
