Life that was left

As for many this was just a soap opera, but to many families it was keeping up with distant relatives they love. Although, ATWT was a tv show, it was passed down for generations like a grandfather clock. There was a tremendous amount of reasons to love ATWT. The show was not glamed up like some of the others, the hometown feel of ATWT is what I think drew in viewers.
Yes, there was the relentless James that never seemed to die, but that is TV and it gave us a character to hate. The love stories like with Betsy & Frank,Jack & Carly, Katey & Brad, just to name a few, also drew viewers. The writers were always putting new issues that in real life people deal with in their lives. I am talking about people getting addicted to prescription meds, cancer, homosexuality and the writers brought seriousness and awareness about these topics. The great actors were able to get this across splendidly with their talent and great scripts.
Although some of characters escapades were sometimes far fetched, those things are what made the character. For ATWT followers it has and still a dark time not to have in our living rooms. Many grew watching ATWT with their grandparents or parents, lots of those people are gone now.
Loosing ATWT was like loosing them all over again. ATWT was a great escape as well as an heirloom we had passed done that still had a lot of years left before throwing it away.
There were men who watched ATWT, not just females. For many viewers it was taking away football off tv, no more stadiums, no more players, no more jersey's, no more greats, but all that remains is the memories and the fans who were tragically pushed aside for what talk shows? Why ruin what they had for something that might last only 5- 10 years. ATWT withstood the test of time.
