Documentary about the television series, "Baywatch." After its success as an NBC movie-of-the-week in April 1989, "Baywatch" gauranteed itself a weekly slot on the network's schedule later that fall. Though the series never failed to captivate its viewers, television critics were relentless in their portrayal of the show, and NBC, striving to set higher programming standards, dropped the show after its first season despite its respectable ratings. Determined to keep their series afloat, the show's producers decided to revive the series in syndication, creating a programming juggernaut. In spite of numerous cast changes, on-set romances, salary disputes, failed spin-offs and harsh critics, "Baywatch" remained a television staple for more than a decade and made break-out stars of cast members Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Yasmine Bleeth and Gena Lee Nolin, among others.
