Both are good.

After watching the first few episodes of the US version and loving it, I was curious about how good the UK version was. I have watched all episodes to date of both versions and I love both!
The UK did a great job with the concept for the show and really made you care about the characters. Mitchell and his fight to be human and "sober", George and his dealing with what he calls "the Curse", and Annie and her death and afterlife. I cannot say that I liked how the Third season ended though.
In the US version you have Aiden, Josh and Sally another amazing cast. While the basics are still there, you get more of a background and side story in this version that I liked and the closeness between Josh and Aiden is different than that of George and Mitchell.
Yes, the storyline is still quite similar but the US show is still in its first season and has already branched out on its own in many ways from the UK show.
I will say that I do like Mitchell more than Aiden, but Josh more than George. And for those who said that Aiden name in the US version was stupid, that was done on purpose as a tribute to Aiden Turner (Mitchell). try watching interviews and you might learn something.
