This show makes me feel almost guilty watching it. I feel like somebody decided to throw a bunch of people, who have grown up so sheltered, out to the wolves. These people are set up for failure from the very beginning. It's awful to watch, I nearly cringe at some of the situations. Nearly all of these people have grown up without electricity. That means no tv, running water, or light switches. While it's extremely interesting, and actually quite fun, to watch them discover these things that we live with every day without even thinking about, to toss these people into a big city is a bit much to start with. Even I would be overwhelmed at that sort of environment, having grown up in a small town.
Bottom line is that aspects of the show are fun, like watching them learn how to use the coffee machine and fawning over taking a shower; some of the other aspects aren't quite as fun, like watching them learn how to take criticism from the rest of the world, and also from each other. It would be a tough change to make to your life, leaving behind everything you've ever known to move into a world so foreign and cruel, and it's not like they include a guide book.
