Sad De-evolution

A show that started out with such promise has de-evolved into a caricature of itself. I get the whole "good-guy family man with a chip on his shoulder faces incredibly unfair problems and goes bad guy" thing. And it worked well!!! However, Walt's appeal has waned not just because he "broke bad", but because his character has long since abandoned the very moral standing that caused him to take up drug manufacturing in the first place. After years of getting to be a "real" gangster (and a poor one at that), we are now offered that he is willing to just quit so as to facilitate a family reconciliation? This is not long after Walt goes through with the contract killing of 10 former associates and mere months after he had a clear opportunity to walk away, quite possibly totally unscathed, but instead he choose to ramp up production, etc.. While still well-acted and well-produced, the show has become patently unbelievable in any sense. I will watch out the string in hopes that the show will close strong (and believably), but I somehow doubt it will happen. Walt's now inevitable demise will signal the end of the show, sadly his appeal ended some time ago. Too bad.
