About The Show

The story, opens in England in 1944 and follows the adult life of Charles Ryder, an artist and disillusioned British army captain. The title is derived from Brideshead Castle, a grand house on the estate of the Marchmains, an aristocratic English-Catholic family. While stationed on the estate, Ryder recalls the past -- and through the use of flashbacks, the viewer follows Ryder from his days at Oxford twenty years earlier to the present (1944). The series chronicles Ryder's trials and tribulations as he falls under the spell of the Marchmain family after meeting the self-destructive and charming Lord Sebastian Flyte.
