Case 1, "Reconstructing Murder," follows the odyssey of Captain Dellinges, who was in charge of investigating a series of fires that plagued the California area of Emerald Hills from 1987 to 1990. Though 100 stakeouts proved fruitless, a videotape of one of the blazes was discovered and broadcast on "Unsolved Mysteries." Not long after, the case was closed.
Case 2, "Fire Flicks," examines a murder in Wisconsin, in which a body was found floating in a river, dismembered and flayed, the pieces in plastic bags. The first task was to determine who the victim was. The second was to find the killer. Through dogged work and a few lucky breaks, Sauk County Detective Joe Welsch and Division of Criminal Investigations agent Liz Feagles managed to do both.Examines "cold cases" -- homicides and other crimes that remain unsolved or are solved many years after the crime.
