Friday Night Lights

Julie accepts Matt's marriage proposal but forces her future husband to retroactively request her hand from Coach Taylor. When Matt asks Coach Taylor for permission, he is roundly denied. At dinner, Julie reasons with her parents about why the marriage could work which makes Tami decide that it is her turn to get the benefit of a compromise. Vince hopes his father will make it to the state championship game and Coach Taylor appeals to Ornette personally to make him understand the importance of the game to Vince. Becky moves out of the Riggins home but her relationship with Luke remains as strong as ever. Tyra tells Tim that nothing will come of their reconnection and Tim agrees, though they both hope that the moment will be right in the future. Coach Taylor does not sign the new contract to coach the "super team" and the Philadelphia plan for Tami moves ahead. Eight months later, in Philadelphia, Coach Taylor has a new high school position. Vince now leads the united Panthers team. Luke has enlisted in the armed services. Matt and Julie live together in Chicago. less

Tami and Eric lock horns when Tami decides she wants to take the Dean job in Philadelphia. Tim pushes his family away and considers leaving Texas when Tyra returns to town and looks to change his mind. As the Lions prepare for the state championship, the school board votes to cut the East Dillon football program. less

The Lions still have a hard road before they reach the state championship but spirits are high at East Dillon. Declining school revenues have school employees worried about their job security but prospects for Tami Taylor's future seem high when she takes an interview to be an Assistant Dean at Braemore College. Tim tries to get used to the free life but only sees reminders of the sacrifice he made for his brother. Vince has to turn Ornette away when his father reverts to his old behavior. Coach Taylor learns that Dillon is only going to have one football program for the entire town next season. The Lions win the semifinal game and advance to the state championship. Tami is surprised and forced to make a tough decision when she is offered the Dean of Admissions position. less

The Lions prepare for the playoffs. Coach Taylor receives a sweet offer from a college program but Buddy hopes to keep him at East Dillon. Billy rallies supporters for Tim's parole hearing. Tami speaks her mind at an educational conference. Luke considers a college future without football. Vince makes a personal plea to Coach Taylor to stick around. Tim is released on parole. less
