Best show on TV

I've been a fan of 'weird' science fiction shows ever since my hands could operate a remote. Shows like the Twilight Zone, Tales from the Dark Side, Alfred Hitch [profane] etc., and ESPECIALLY X-FILES were what I cut my teeth on. Then I started becoming intensely interested in science that most people with even an advanced mainstream understanding of science would dismiss, i.e., everything this show is about. I'm also a huge HP Lovecraft fan, and in order to read his stuff, you have to open your mind to the most diabolical possibilities or risk going insane like he did. Fringe came along, and I had the series recording set up before the show even started. What got me initially interested in the show was not really that it was about Fringe Science, but the actor John Noble, who I loved as Denethor in the Return of the King. And of course I have to admit having grudgingly watched Dawson's Creek a few dozen times (it was unavoidable and against my will, I swear!), so I wanted to see how Joshua Jackson pulled this show off. Apparenly he was such an X-Files junkie he wanted to be one of the inbred cretins in that creepy episode of X-Files they only aired twice it was so disturbing (X-Files fans KNOW which episode I'm talking about; the rest of you couldn't handle the episode in question anyway, it was THAT disturbing.) I'm now completely and utterly hooked on Fringe, and I find my self in an explanatory role with those whom I watch the show. I often have to explain what's going on in Fringe, as well as Big Bang Theory, to people I'm watching it with. Fringe can be a very hard show to get a handle on for the 'uninitiated', but it's always fun so see that glazed, bewildered look on the faces of people who simply don't get it, even AFTER a 20 minute explanation. I hope they find a way to keep this show going for a long time, but not so long that it outlasts its usefulness like X-Files did.
