Third try last night, and once again I fell asleep. I know it's not because I'm tired, because last year when Fox had House on at that hour, I was perfectly able to stay awake. I wonder why...could it be, um, the acting? The writing? The insipidity of it? The ridiculous big place signs? Also, it's hard to hear comparisons to the X-Files. I am hoping that true X-Files fans are having as much trouble as I am with it. Most of the reviews of this show were written by fans of Lost and Alias, so I guess I know where they are coming from, since for me, those shows, along with Heroes, are nothing but cringe-inducing. The others appear to be Joshua Jackson fans, and I do happen to think he is the best character/actor in the show, but one character and one good actor does not a great TV show make. I wonder how Blair Brown feels about seeing that old insolation tank again since she made Altered States with William Hurt all those years ago. Maybe they promised her she could use it. I was also surprised to see Darin Morgan working on this show (All true X-Files fans know who he is) as consulting producer. Who knows, maybe he will be of some help. I honestly was very willing for another X-Files-like show to come along, a show that carries on its legacy of fine sci-fi for a true sci-fi fan to watch and love. This isn't it. Sorry.
