About The Show
The series, set in California, follows the adventures of Jim Douglas, a former race car driver, now the head of the Famous Driving School and owner of Herbie, a magical Volkswagen that has a mind and personality of its own. The program focuses on the courtship between Jim and Susan McLane, a pretty widow Herbie matches with Jim, and the problems that ensue when Rodney Bigelow, Susan's former fiance, sets his goal to win Susan back by breaking up her new romance.
Based on the characters created by Gordon Buford for the 1969 Disney theatrical film "The Love Bug."
