Hot in Cleveland

I think this show could be in the "Barney Miller" category or "Taxi" if they clean up a little the three friends depth and keep Betty nice and edgy. TVLand has something special here, I believe. Good, solid chemistry between players. I like (in a big way) how the show producers introduce past and present talent into the mix. Very few shows have the likeability factor that would attract cameos from such a wide range of talents. Keep that up. Stay on top of Betty's lines and keep them right on the cliff..."Prison changes a woman." That's what I'm talking about. Almost there, but noooooot quite. Valerie's character is a bit too whiney and needy for my taste, but she is solid overall as are the other two women. The Brit is perfect in her role with quips here and ther. The soap star gets a little too much for me, wears thin in spots. Clean up her edges and it will go smoother. HIC is definately off to the races and I'm going to give the show a strong "B+" with plenty of upside. "A" level is "Two and a Half Men" and "Frasier" type shows with "A+" hall of fame territory being "Cheers", "MTM", MASH", etc. I don't know if the storyline is going to be able to reach for the stars, but as far as damned entertaining...we're there!
