This benefit performance for American Idol raises money to fight poverty and hunger in the United States and Africa. Organizations receiving donations from the broadcast include Feeding America, Malaria No More, Elton John Aids Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The final twelve start the night off with a group performance.
