Arthur, a freelance journalist, travels to Los Angeles for a few months to write a book entitled, "Why I Hate L.A." However, once he gets there, he likes it so much, he decides to stay. His friends include: Robbie, a transplanted New Yorker who has found his fortune; eccentric millionaire buddy, Shrug; neighbor Jennifer Grey, whose celebrity status has been threatened by a nose job, which has rendered her virtually unrecognizable; and Lauren, a masseuse who also makes ends meet as a subpeona-carrying process server. In the second season, Arthur finishes his book, now entitled "Living in Los Angeles: How Can You Stomach It?"
