Documentary about the 1966 murder of Vernon Dahmer, an official of the NAACP's Forrest County Branch in Mississippi. Dahmer declared that local blacks could pay their poll tax at his grocery store, enabling a few to try and vote in the next election. On January 10, 1966, the Ku Klux Klan firebombed Dahmer's home, He grabbed a shotgun and held the Klansmen at bay while his wife and family escaped the blaze, but Dahmer was unable to save himself. Sam Bowers, the Imperial Wizard of the KKK of Mississippi at the time of the attack, was convicted of the crime 33 years later. He'd been tried several times before, but four juries were unable to agree unanimously on the verdicts. FBI documents show that Bowers may have tampered with the previous juries.
