About The Show
Quaint and sleepy Younger, Illinois, is home to retirees, Sarah Stevenson, an adventuress at heart, and best friend and roommate, Margaret Smith, a widow who spends much of her time planning her own funeral. When Sarah and Margaret see a boxing match on their newly installed cable TV, they are transformed into fight aficionados. Leaving behind their weekly poetry readings, the two ladies travel to Chicago, to see a live boxing match. There, the two meet and recruit Darold Boyarsky, a small-time street crook who was about to mug them, but whom they mistake for a prizefighter. Darold, eager for free room and board, plays along. Ultimately, Darold has to play his fighter's role for real in a Las Vegas boxing ring, putting the ladies' reputations on the line and threatening to expose his criminal past to suspicious authorities.
