First let me say I really wanted to like this series. As a former cold warU.S.A.F. intellegence photo interpreter I have a kean interest in the genre (ie: hunt for red october, crimson tide, ice station zebra). From a production stand point this show looks great. Good acting and directing (MartinCampbell, Kevin Hooks). Heres the problem! ;YOU NEVER GIVE UP YOUR STEALTH;. For all the power a ballistic nuclear missile submarine has in weapons that power is only truly valid because of its stealth. The ability to be anywhere under the earths oceans undetectable with an attack strike of minutes. This show has the captain surface his ship, parks it in the open and tells the world where it is . This is not at all believable. No SLBM commander would do that. He or she would just as soon open both torpedo tube door at same time while submerged if it were possible. Submerge! STEALTH is the key. This very basic point tossed out by the producers opens the door for the writers to run free with inaccurate plot ideals. I do not know what audience ABC and the producers of this show are aiming for but it looks like a low bar set. Its too bad. With a good military technical advisor from start this may have been a fairly good show. I can not see it lasting more then a season.
