The true story of Dr. Dennis Slamon, the doctor who developed the revolutionary drug Herceptin; a treatment for breast cancer. His difficult road is examined in this re-telling of his struggles for funding, corporate red tape and personal issues.

That's the T.V. Guides description of this story.

It takes you through 12 years of the Dr.'s life - his wife as supportive as she possible can, his children as understanding at they can be, co-workers both for and against his cause, friends giving support and helping to raise funds for his research to continue and most importantly... the women. Woman with breast cancer, for the Phase 1 testing they have to be stage 4.
No other treatments are available that will work, so this is their last hope, he is their last hope. You follow the lives of some of these women, the struggles, the joys, the disappointments and their families picking up the pieces once they are gone.

I cried. I always cry when I watch these types of stories, but this hit closer to home. I was given a scare this year, luckily it worked out for the best, much to my relief. I have relatives that have gone through this and some have died. Seems we all have someone that has. All I can say is ... help where you can. Go to The Breast Cancer Site - a click a day will help to get someone a mammogram that could very well save the life of someone you love.
