My friends and I were taken aback by two occurences:
When his name was drawn by the Brazilian contestant, a member of jury, Dave Navarro, adressed her with a very inappropriate, Hi, baby . In addition, his question was totally cliche and may have carried provocative overtones.Someone should have explained the man this wasn't his own living room but a reputable public setting. Kudos to the Brazilian beauty who had enough class to answer the question in a dignified manner.
Second, the Mexican public shouldn't have booed Miss USA . The poor girl slipped and fell, picked herself up and bravely continued her strut down the runway. Her finalist status might have not been fair to other contestants, but if the points were awarded for bravery, she deserved them. However, if the booing reflected the Mexican sentiment on US politics, it was completely unfair. The girl has nothing to do with it.
On the bright side, Mexican entertainers were very good, and things went on pretty smoothly overall. The ladies were adorable, we thought.
