In one word its Sincere
This world is full of judgment and it is personally comforting to turn on the TV and hear someone tell me that God loves me. So many times we hear the opposite and I thank Jay Baker for that. I am not sure what his purpose is and perhaps he doesn't even know either however that is God who will decide. I think the show gives an angle of reality and even though it depicts Jay and his struggle it also offers enlightenment. It shows what man goes through while he is trying to find his way. He is diving into Jesus and trying to make sense of the world around him and even though we don't hear enough of the word it shows the real side of a person called to ministry. I am confident that if this ministry is a call of God then it will grow and more and more will flock to this church. I am not here to decide whether jay is Christian enough or if he preaches the word enough. I think in a day where the world is constantly at war with the spiritual world it makes sense to show the world issues. Showing what someone really goes through when trying to do the right thing is refreshing and it encourages me. It gives me the feeling that since I too believe God loves me then I am not alone. Jay Baker is bringing out the bitterness and prejudice of the world today and this can only lead to a blessing. Jesus did not come here to die for only certain people but for ‘whosever’ believes. It is not up to anyone here to decide how much Grace and Mercy our Lord wants to give someone. John 21 tells us that when Peter asked Jesus about John he responded and told him “If I want him to live forever what is that to you”. I think John Baker’s actions show that it is not anyone’s business what God decides to anoint or bless. It’s God’s business and as long as we treat one another as we would ourselves and place God first in our life he will judge and change what he wants from each of us. Who are we to decide whom he wants to do his work? Everyone has a purpose and Jay could be fulfilling that for himself, or just others around him. People have told others that God doesn’t love them. If Jay can reach even one person to turn their life to Jesus then he has fulfilled his purpose as the Lord’s servant. Would it be great to hear more of the word on the show? Yes. But I think Jay is showing us how to get there. How to reach to podium and truly preach? He is growing in the Lord and we should support his efforts.
