I tried to hit 5 stars and it wouldn't accept the 5th star. By all means this is atleast 5 stars!
I have tried to watch other TV drama's and they have not held my attention as this show does. The writing is amazing and the choice of cast is spot on. There are many realistic story lines that weave into the fabric of this family's life without overexageration or marginalizing the content. I value the honest characterizations of the family as they push through life's messiness. There seems to be no content the writers are unafraid to address. Life has many twists and turns; not all things can be tied up in a pretty bow. For example when Sarah's x-husband stumbled back into her life in a very realistic way addict's do, beat up, bloody... a total train wreck... yet, against strong family opposition, she desires to help him and does. All the story lines from Asbergers, teenage issues, affairs and there heartwrenching aftermath, financial, physical, parental/ familial and romantic relationships from birth to gerontology are very authentic and have my friends, family and myself anxiously waiting for more. We love to watch, laugh and cry with the Braverman's. As a mental health therapist, I love to watch the dynamic's between each family member and eagerly try to anticipate their realistic interactions.
There is only one show we can think of that remotely interested us was "Men of a Certain Age". The acting and writing were also good, but nothing compared to this show. Please continue to write more shows and by all means please do not consider cancelling...there is just not enough quality television and this show by far ticks every box.... for drama, romance, comedy, informational (adoption, mental health, physical health, inside info on business, politics, marketing, teaching, bartending, barista-ing, music bus, addiction/co-dependency and other issues) and everything in between....much better than the junk on reality TV!
