Twelve year old Hollis Woods has been in foster care for most of her life. She was recently placed with Josie, an aging woman whose memory is fading. Though concerned for Josie's health, Hollis likes living with there but longs for the Regan's, the previous family whose care she was removed from for mysterious reasons.
