I watched this story, and added was really impressed with the people on your show....I have to say to the African American female, that children are not given to the father, unless he has enough money to fight all the court fees, or the mother has a severe drug, or other issue. I know this because we just went through the family court bias system. My son took his son's mother to court because was moving out of town with a man she didn't know well. My son ended up losing his rights as a father, paying child support and court fees for himself and hers. There court cost should have been shared, and in august his visits will change to twice a month. This is a man who has been in the home for the three yrs of his son's life, and since they separated he has seen his son 3-1/2 days every week. How do we take parenting from one parent, give it to another solely, and so we did "what was best for the child" My is not a criminal, a thug, he is college educated, and works on a part-time job. He wanted shared parenting, nothing more. This is a story you should have on your show, he isn't the only man going there this drama.
