The Amazing Race 9

After nine countries, 59,000 miles, and two close calls with elimination, best friends BJ & Tyler won a seesaw battle against rivals Eric & Jeremy to claim the one million dollar prize. From Japan to Alaska and back to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, the two teams traded positions as they had throughout the Race until BJ pulled ahead of Eric at the final Roadblock to score his team a victory. After a series of navigational woes, dating couple Ray & Yolanda finished a distant third. less

After starting another leg with no money and possessions, best friends BJ & Tyler battled back into first place to earn a spot in the finals as the teams traveled to exotic Thailand. Dating couple Joseph & Monica recovered from an early mistake that put them in last place, but a meltdown from Monica at the Detour led to their demise as they became the last Team eliminated from the race. less

As teams headed north to Darwin, Australia, the simmering feud between BJ & Tyler and Joseph & Monica heated up after the best friends Yielded the dating couple as promised. Meanwhile, Ray & Yolanda ran a great leg to snag their first victory, while a three team sprint to the mat resulted in a karmic payback for MoJo as they finished three steps ahead of last place BJ & Tyler who survived because of another non-elimination leg. less

In a leg that took teams to the beautiful beaches of Western Australia, a familiar order returned as friends Eric & Jeremy reclaimed the lead and the penniless BJ & Tyler moved up to third place. Married couple Fran & Barry held up in a very physical leg, even beating the athletic Ray & Yolanda at one point, but, a missing taxi helped seal their fate as the seventh Team eliminated from the race. less
