For years, I was unaware of this show. On the surface, it seemed a mere"Friends" retread. Caught one episode on a slow work night and was hooked right there. Hysterical! Well written, deep characters-yes, even Penny-and no juvenile topicality. One complaint, though: why couldn't they let Sheldon and-was it Leonard's?-mother continue their relationship, at least for a while? There's nothing wrong with May-December romance, believe me. Sheldon seems a tragic figure, seemingly so lost and alone, though he doesn't seem to mind this. A kindred spirit, one might say. Anyhow, bravo to the writers. Don't change a thing.
About The Show

All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty, a Cheesecake Factory waitress and aspiring actress named Penny, moves in across the hall. While the eccentric Sheldon may be content spending his nights hanging with their equally socially dysfunctional friends and fellow CalTech scientists, clueless, would-be Lothario Wolowitz and shy Koothrappali, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities...including love.
