This is a show worth saving for only one reason. It has a stellar cast. I looked forward to this premiering and have watched all of it to this point but have completely lost interest. There is no character development whatsoever. Flashbacks do not suffice. We are given two viewpoints, the good guys and the bad guys. We are quoted Poe regularly and then fed an explanation of what the reasoning behind the usage of that particular quote is for this particular episode. If you feel the need to explain every little thing to your audience you are belittling them. The FBI is represented as so stupid they don't realize the group of followers is huge which I figured out by the second show. I knew Joe would escape when he was being moved. Why didn't they? If you like watching killing for the sake of watching killing then I guess this is the show for you. Give me a good story line and character development any day. This show has flatlined from the very beginning. Continuum though not in the same genre is a new show I began to watch at the same time. The characters are evolving, as they are on The Walking Dead or as they did on The Closer. The Following provides little to no opportunity for character development. Each story is basically who shall we kill next, what is the reason we are doing it and how will it provide Kevin Bacon with an opportunity to talk someone down long enough to overpower him, her, them or get hurt himself? Do these people sleep, eat, ever go home? All that acting talent is going to waste. Joe is a character with potential real depth, sexual energy and creepiness. Yet, pretty much all he does is smile and act avuncular. Story, story, story and character, character, character...the writers need to get on the stick.
