About The Show

The original format of the series (1961-65) follows the misadventures of Lucy Carmichael, a widowed mother of two, and her friend Vivian Bagley, a divorcee, as they attempt various harebrained schemes to get rich quick and to meet eligible men. Lucy worked part-time for Mr. Theodore Mooney as the Danfield First National Bank.

The revised format (1965-68) moves the locale from Connecticut to San Francisco, where the antics of the same Lucy Carmichael, secretary to bank vice-president Theodore J. Mooney, are depicted. Vivian Bagley remained in the East, and Lucy's new friend was Mary Jane Lewis.
