The Price Is Right

I was watching The Price Is Right and have watched it since its beginning, but I was dissatisfied with today's results regarding breaking the tie. Today is Tuesday, October 4, 2011, and I live in Joliet, IL. Upon watching the tie breaker, the young man spinned the wheel and came up with 10, but then it was told that was not the tie breaker, therefore, he had the opportunity of spinning the wheel again. I did not understand the meaning of that decision
In watching The Price Is Right, I have never seen this incident happen. Please tell me WHAT HAPPENED?
