The British Ambassador, Sir Mark Brydon, tries to do everything he can to smooth things over with the Americans, but it becomes difficult when British Asians are targeted in the US. Mark tries to get Virginia's policy of rounding up British people in America reversed. The Ambassador's right hand man, Nicholas Brocklehurst, discovers that the father of Mark's friend Caroline Hanley may have a connection to the bomb. Nicholas helps FBI agent George Blake with the murder case of a British soldier in Virginia.
