Ditch the clock...

This show would really be worth watching more if in the Elimination Challenges, they would get rid of the timer and give them a reasonable amount of time to prepare the dishes. It should not be about the lack of quantity of time but rather about the quality of the food prepared. Why does it have to be a race? Granted, in a resturant setting, time makes a difference, but in a restaurant, quality would not be sacrificed for the sake of time.

Why not have a real-world type of competition that if something is persented that does not pass muster, then send it back to the kitchen and get it done right. If it still comes back bad, then they move to the top of the list for elimination.

The current seasons chefs seem to be a bit more above average in ability than many of the past seasons (as a whole.)

Along the way in the competition, they should have challenges that do not presuppose a theme, just let it be chef's choice, to make a dish that they think can really push them out front. The ultimate winner after the changes I suggest would be definitely a top-notch Top Chef .
