True Life: I Am Getting Breast Implants

Examines the alarming trend of increasing numbers of young women electing to have breast implants. Looks at the physical implications of the surgery as well as the various motivations behind the decision to have implants. The program follows two young women as they go through the process of consulting with plastic surgeons, weighing the risks of the operation with their expectations, and ultimately deciding whether to go through with the breast augmentation procedure. Also relates the story of a woman who, due to complications, had to undergo the painful process of having her implants removed. Another woman shows how she has spent a lifetime wrestling with the limitations and challenges of having a naturally large chest; the cameras accompany her through the process of having breast reduction surgery, and visit her afterwards to find out how the operation has changed her life.
