HBO Cubs doc wins kudos

star55

an all-chicago northsider look at living with the cubbies, their legacies, curses and watching that fateful interference that created a storm around Steve Bartman 9unjustly: he never owned the ball but took the heat, just like O'Leary's cow, he's a chicago legend who took the blame). Dennis Farina narrates (a former chicago cop) and sidelines chatter with Chicago Old Timers' President Andy Pafko, SCORE radio's Mike Murphy (an orignial Bleacher bum and an Old Timer) and, stuff dug out of the archives of the Old Timers' Baseball Association of Chicago (plus George Brace photos, himself and Old timer and many, many others) make this a great, great piece of film history, from the planting of the ivy to the making of CHASING OCTOBER (those guys are Old timers, too) which has pieces rolled into it.

It is painfully great and as perfect a look at northside fandom as has ever been produced.

God bless HBO and their staff for a a brilliant job! Kepp stuff like this coming!
