A Good Holiday Look-In on the Shrek Clan
November 30, 2007
If you've been wondering how Shrek, Fiona, family and friends might get together for the Holidays, you'll enjoy this TV special and latest installment in the continuing Shrek saga. This does have most all the basic elements most Shrek aficionados have come to expect, right down to the "needledrop" music and slightly skewed townsfolk, and does a good job of picking up where "Shrek The Third" ended. Directed by Gary Trousdale (who also co-directed Disney's landmark film "Beauty and the Beast"), this special could have had just a little something more to it, but was limited by its 21.5-minute time frame. It takes a nice and perhaps appropriate Holiday break from the climactic action in Shreks 3D/4D, 2 and Third, but does produce a heartwarming get-together, with enjoyable contributions by the supporting characters, that at times seems like Holiday gatherings we all can both dread, and hope for.
