Smallville Veritas

Season 7,  Episode 15 | Original Airdate: March 27, 2008

Kara gets an unwelcome barn visit from hobo robot Braniac, who acts all menacing, but really doesn"t say what he wants or why he"s there, other than that he needs Kara for something. Clark sees what"s going on and they fight briefly. Braniac warns Clark that someone"s gonna get hurt. Braniac flies away and Clark watches because Clark can"t fly. Kara tries to teach Clark to fly so he"ll be better prepared the next time they fight Braniac. Clark is like, "Yeah, that"s cool. I"m leaving now. Have fun with the flying." Meanwhile, Lex begins remembering more things from his childhood, such as a key that was shared by all the adults in the Veritas club. It turns out the keys unlock a bank account in Switzerland holding a major Veritas secret. While investigating where the key goes, Lex"s lady assistant all but throws herself on Lex"s desk saying, "I"m yours!" Meanwhile, Lois and Jimmy investigate, badly, the death of Patricia Swann, which they believe was ordered by Papa Luthor. Papa starts freaking out about protecting Clark and wants to give him a key he"s been holding around his neck, but nobody believes him anymore, especially not Clark and Chloe, who shun him. Lana gets an unwelcome Isis visit from Braniac, who brain-pokes her and turns her into a cloudy-eyed zombie. It"s not much of a change. Clark finds Lana in the Kent kitchen, burning her hand on a hot pot handle and looking catatonic. Braniac says Lana is in great pain and is aware of what"s happening to her body. He says only he can reverse it. Kara decides to give herself over to Braniac and see how that goes in order to save Lana. They fly off deep into space together. Lois and Jimmy find evidence that Lex had Patricia Swann killed, not Papa Luthor. Papa warns that if he doesn"t help Clark that something really, really, really bad is coming. Clark goes to visit Lana at the hospital. She"s very catatonic, but manages to say, "You"re too late, Kal-El." Clark, very sad, cries. Let the Canonization of dead/dying/brain-dead Lana begin.
