Light years ahead of its time
December 26, 2006
There is no television, no film, no entertainment that has had the historical impact that has been given by the original Star Trek.
Not since Jules Verne has another source become such a bellwether of 'things to come'.
Added to the prophecy of applied science, its creator sought to offer up a cross-section of American diversity and the eternal message of hope and acceptance to spread across a universe.
Our personal cell phones look like 'communicators'. Scientists now experiment with matter transportation. The first space shuttle was christened Enterprise.
Millions claim to be "Trekkies" and regularly attended conventions. Though 40 years have passed since it was first aired, the fans keep the franchise alive and always eagerly anticipate each upcoming manifestation of the ships and crew of Starfleet Command.

timeless
March 5, 2007
As always, the Original Star Trek shines. Perhaps this is due in part to the timless subject matter, as in this case, the futility and waste of war. It gives us something to think about today just as it did in the 60's. OST was never afraid to ask the difficult questions-the answers are still being pondered.

A classic
January 30, 2007
The original Trek spawned three spin-offs, a cartoon, books, comics, games, and a line of movies. So it must have something going for it. In the 60's it was glimpse of a hopeful future for mankind. The show tackled issues like racism, both in writing and casting. One of the best all-time.

Classic and addicting. I'm ten years old and this is my favorite telovision show! I think it is a great family show and Spoc is so funny. He just stands there. A big huge dragon could be eating him and he is all,
"The tempature of the fire is 2398.6 degrees captin." I love this show and the new one kinda sucks. Old one, classic.
