    Enjoyable and Exciting

    March 11, 2008
As a Stargate fan, I was excited to see the DVD available today and picked it up right away. Overall I found the show to be very enjoyable with some great action and special effects. Fans of SG1 will enjoy the show though they may be wishing there was more space battles with the Ori - those who are not new to SG1 will need some updates to bring them up to speed (it takes off pretty much right where the TV series ended).

I could tell this show was being produced with the thought of perhaps making it to the big screen - in 90% of the movie its production value was right up there (the audio was great 100%). The other 10% of the movie (outdoor shots) had that made-for-TV look that wouldnt pass well on the big screen. But otherwise, this felt and looked like a movie I should be watching in the theater.

While I found the movie enjoyable, I did feel the very end was a bit rushed, plus a made-for-tv like scene was thrown on the very end that I wished was changed. This doesnt take away from this being very enjoyable - but with such a great cast I just cant stop thinking of how this could have easily been made into a full feature movie (add a little history to the start, improve the outdoor sets, slight change to the ending). Perhaps they producers will do that for the next Stargate movie.

Speaking of the cast, I found them to be great together. I still find Ben Browders delivery a little dry (hes the leader of the group), but was surprised by how well Claudia Black (Vala) did - she is so much more polished then when she first joined the TV series. Christopher Judge (Tealc) could have used a few more lines - I think I only counted 1 -In Deed- from him (his delivery is great, his character really makes a big impact), but the scene near the end where he stands up and looks at the city in the distance was amazing. The 2 remaining main characters, Amanda Tapping (Sam) and Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) were right on - both a pleasure to watch with not a single flaw in their delivery.
