Amy Hoffman decides to take an adventurous hike up Island Peak in the Himalayas with her husband as her 40th birthday approaches. A freak blizzard and series of avalanches cut them off from the rest of the world and place them in danger. Avalanches claim the lives of many of their fellow travelers and tour guides.
