Watch The Dresden Files
January 30, 2007
For the naysayers - TV is different than print. It would not be pratical to place every detail from the book into the show, nor does everything in print transfer to the screen well. Think of it as an alternate Dresden universe. I think the guy who plays Harry -- has the smirk down, and understands the sarcasm of Harry.
I came to Dresden via the Dresden File Audiobooks narrated by the hottie James Marsters, the audios are different than the print. Each medium brings a different view on the Dresden world -- watch the show, read the books, listen to the audios -- its a great universe, and I intend to keep watching.

Let it go folks
February 25, 2007
Listen I am a fan of the books as well, however I knew the show wasn't going to be able to stay true, so I let it go. The show stands on its own as an interesting and cool alt. universe with magic and monsters. My advice, if you are a fan of the books, don't get your panties in a ruffle, just enjoy the whats on the screen and stop looking for similarities. If this is your first time with Harry, enjoy!

Good Start so far
February 1, 2007
When I first heard The Dresden Files were being optioned to come to the little screen, I was stoked. I admit some of the changes I heard about seemed a little odd, but I decided to give the show a chance.
The first episode, "Birds of a Feather," threw me with some unexpected changes, and it didn't seem to grab me like it should have. Of course, I was paying a lot of attention to the changes, and I know that had something to do with it. Subsequent viewings let me see things I had missed, and I think the show has gotten off to a pretty good start.
It's not absolutely great, but it does show promise. For this reason I'll keep watching just to see how good the writers and rest of the cast and crew can get. The Dresden Files has great potential, and I find it far easier to immerse myself in it if I just forget about where the books are going and enjoy the show as a separate entity entirely.

Books v TV
March 28, 2007
I am new to world of The Dresden Files. I have all the books but I had not seen the show until the SciFi channel started to broadcast the episodes on the internet. (no cable) Sure the show is a bit different than the books. But its a great show. I just kinda think of it as this is what Harry does in between the books which are set six months to a year apart. Harry must have tons of interesting cases right. Jim writes about the big cases. The TV show has all the everyday cases. The only thing that really bothers me about the differences between the show and the books is the charachter of Murphy. She isn't short with blonde hair and blue eyes on the show! Over all its a great show and wonderful books. :)

I Am Enjoying Dresden 2 Ways
March 25, 2007
I was unaware of the Dresden Books when I started watching the series. I am now on book 4 and totally enjoying it.
I understand what everyone is saying about the differences between the books and the show... but what the hey...
I am enjoying the show for what it is and without it I never would have realized that there was a series of books. Thanks Sci Fi Channel for leading me to fresh new reading material.
