Fantastic show - amazing it is on TV at all

    June 29, 2009
This is a great show, I am sorry to completely disagree with the reviewer. It shows how vaccuous the Enviro-freaks are and the constant ribbing of their knee jerk - follow the bumper sticker mindset is all about. The satire is very amusing and gets funnier every episode. My whole family and the neighbors - who are dyed in the wool lefties - LOVE it. The father is such a nice guy - someone we all would love to have as a neighbor even though he is always looking to boost his enviro-credentials and the one upsmanship of the mother with her other lefty friends is sweet. Watch it and you will love it too. The daughter is the non-conformist - a normal high school kid and she and the grandfather offer the counter culture jabs at teh Goode family. Using rainwater to shower in the front yard - growing an organic garden in the front yard are so funny - as most of the enviro freak movement is all about showmanship of how much "the True Believers" are personally doing to save the planet, not if it is actually doing any good. Very cool show.

Hey ronnie the whistle blower. Don't you have anything better to do than act like your important enough to KNOW SOME ONE?Call the fcc huh? Can't you just go back to pulling wings off of flies while yelling "if flies could only scream?"Why don't you just turn your t.v. off instead of pulling plugs at the hostpital wile the nurses are looking the other way?! We are all sory that you were abused as a grown up,and addicted to Barney.So...Go buy by an enquirer to read and maybe just leave the fun to us real folks that are fun loving, and don't go around crusifying tv shows and acting all above the rest of us!I"I know bill, or I know bob" who cares! It's people like you that make us want to shove a television set up your, ummm well you get the point. If your ever on life support and don't want to be...have some one give me a call.I would be more than happy to help you out in that way only! Now go call one of your (alledged) important friends so you can cry on their shoulder you fun crushing......etc., etc.Oh did I affend you?Good!

    Not sure what to think

    June 19, 2009
I love King of the Hill, but am not crazy about the first few episodes, back when Hank was weakly written, and kept saying stupid things like "the boy ain't right". It got off to a very weak start, but that changed quickly when they made Hank more of a real person, more than just a stereotype. Same goes for Homer Simpson, at first, all he did was yell and strangle Bart, but before long, Dan Castenella figured out how to make Homer much more real. Nowadays his portrayal of Homer is a work of art. Also love Mike Judge's performance as Hank, Boomhauer and Stuart Dooley. KOTH is full of lovable characters. You don't need to agree with them, but if you don't love them, you won't care much about the show.
So, I figure The Goode Family may need time to blossom. I'm afraid of it being all cleverness, but lacking soul. I'm afraid it needs to be a little more than just satire. If at least one major character isn't truly lovable, it might not work. It also has to have a real ring of truth. So far, I have heard at least one line that fell flat because it seriously lacked the ring of truth:'WWAGD, what would Al Gore do?" It was as if they were saying "Hey, check out this really funny line" Unfortunately, that was like being hit on the head, it would have worked much better without the "WWAGD".
The one thing that has caught my attention is the family dog and the fact that the Goodes are imbeciles enough to imagine that the dog is a vegetarian. It's sort of funny, but at the same time makes me rather despise Mr Goode. Could anyone really be that stupid? I realize the point is that these people are so desperate to be correct that they go overboard, and turn the natural into the unnatural, but if it makes me hate them, then I don't know if it can work. It might become funny when they realize how wrong they were and that the dog is the carnivore it was born to be.
I plan to watch every episode, to give it every chance.
The bottom line is: I'm far more liberal than Hank Hill, but I love him because he is so decent, in his way, and he has a very good heart, and I understand his awkwardness, embarrasment and imperfection. It's not difficult to over look the fact that he hates California, which I where I live.
I'm not sure the Goodes have the same potential, but I hope they do.

    Not Judge's Best

    June 12, 2009
I've loved Mike Judge since B&B days, and "King of the Hill" can hit real life on the mark without making some dumb parodies. Still, after watching a few episodes of "The Goode Family" I've been left without laughter, the show not being that "good." Now I do think that with some better writing the show could be a huge hit for ABC. As for the person who wants to contact the FCC; umm, why? There's no foul language and the themes aren't too adult. Therefore you have no good reason to contact the FCC about "The Goode Family." And as others stated, you can turn the channel.

This is America....ever hear of Freedom of Speech?

    June 3, 2009
To the person who says it's trash and they'll report it to the FCC:
If you don't like it, why don't you just change the dial or better yet, turn your TV off? Who made YOU the arbiter of morals for everyone else? Sure, free speech also means that you can dislike things and complain about them to other people, but you're going on a campaign to keep EVERYONE ELSE from seeing this show. What makes you think you have the right to do that? If you're worried about children, yours or anyone else's, don't you realize it's the parent's job to watch out for their kids? Besides, with access to the internet, youtube, Ipods, cell phones, etc.there is NO WAY you can keep people from seeing the things they want to at any age. Do you think Dancing With The Stars or so-called Fox "News" are better TV programming? In my opinion they're trash, but I don't care if other people watch them, it keeps them off the streets and out of my way. You really need to get a life and find something better to do. If you feel like TV is making "American values" go down the tube or anything like that, who do you think you are to judge? You may be offended, but on the other hand, I am extremely offended by the illegal, unnecessary wars that our government involves us in and as a result many thousands of innocent civilians are DEAD and more are DYING EVERY DAY! Please think about using your anger to fight for a cause that makes an actual positive difference in people's lives!
