An Intelligent Children's Show
April 11, 2008Why can't intelligent children's programming be produced in the United States? The BBC's "Sarah Jane Adventures" is a perfect example of INTELLIGENT children's television that gives credit to it's young viewers. It is not dumbed down for 'kids' to understand or supplemented with violence to make it 'more exciting', but takes on some serious subject matter in a realistic manner that is still acceptable to children.
Fans of Doctor Who & Torchwood may be slightly disappointed in this series because it is aimed strictly at kids (Doctor Who is more 'family' viewing and Torchwood definitely 'adult' viewing). But fans of the classic Doctor Who series will be over-joyed at seeing Liz Sladen in action as 'Sarah Jane Smith' again. Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate -

Sarah Jane is back
March 21, 2008It was a complete pleasure to see Elizabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) again after all these years. She's as beautiful as ever...um oh yeah! lol I really enjoyed watching the shows too. They seem well written and acted. Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate -

Much more like the Dr. Who of old
April 18, 2008I'm glad to see the world is ready for Ms. Smith once again. I know they tried a show with her in the past, but that was really as a sidekick to the "tin-dog" as it has been termed. I'm glad to see that K-9 won't be a permanent fixture either. I love K-9, but writers tended to use him too much and left the people standing around or following. I'm hoping that some of the Torchwood folk show up from time to time too!
I do think this is a childrens show, and an excellent one at that, but it's not Y7, more Y14. But what made me happiest was how it seemed to "feel" like an old Dr. Who episode, and I'd not realized how much I missed them.
Kudos for all involved, and I'm so happy that the one-episode guest shot wasn't the last we see of Sarah Jane Smith! Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate -

I loved it.
April 11, 2008I don't feel that this was a childrens' program at all. I believe that families can watch it but children may be frightened. I loved "Luke" especially when he said, "that woman is rude."
I was devastated when the Doctor and Sarah were separated. I'm just a softie. This will be a new favorite for me.Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate
