Clara Collier, a cynical, hard-driving attorney from Atlanta returns to her rural childhood home in the lowlands of the Deep South to attend the funeral of her mother Mattie, a legendary local storyteller. While there, she reconnects with her roots, and through her best friends' children, discovers the mysterious "Wishing Tree" of her mother's tales, and ultimately, happiness for herself.
