If your open in what to expect, this will be a great way to be entertained. I liked it and thought it had an interesting story line with some twists and turns.

Better Than I thought It would be!

This is not your parents or grandparents "Wizard Of Oz". Somewhat along the lines of Tim Burton's "reimagining" of "Planet Of The Apes", "Tin Man" attempts a sci-fi meets Hermoine Grainger via Oz mash-up. Apart from the dreadful performance of Zooey Deschanel as DG, it held my interest all three nights. OK, I confess, mostly to see how bad it would get. But, it never got quite bad enough to leave it alone. The character of Glitch was well done, evoking the original Scarecrow character without becoming a parody. I didn't like the ending - too forced, too contrived. Much of TV and movies are these days, so this was pretty much par for the course. Verizon, who sponsored the original broadcast, got its money's worth - Deschanel sure phoned in her performance! I'll leave it at that.

i think the acting could have been better in some parts, but i absolutely love this show. its great to see how they take the original story and tweak it into something modern.

Great presentation, but !!!

Great rendition of the original story. Loved it. BUT !!! I can't believe how the Sci Fi Channel ended their "premier production" by chopping it off at the end and shrinking the credits to a side panel, to bombard us with full screen advertising. Just KILLED the mood of the whole movie for me. Shame on you.

remaking stories?
December 3, 2007
Well, just about every great story is based on a Shakespear play, so should we be critical of them? Get real. If you pay close enough attention to any movie, you will see the same story, just being retold in a different environment, with different characters. As far as this movie is concerned, I think it's great. I like that it is dark and somewhat disturbed, isn't that somewhat of a mantra for Sci-fi channel?.. The visuals had a similar look to that of Dune, and many other Sci-fi shows; that's OK. Just watch it as though it were a new movie; that you never knew about the Wizard of Oz and you'll be fine (if you like Sci-fi channel movies.) My older kids were suggesting that whomever made it was on drugs, it kind of seems that way, but that just adds to the surrealism. They where captivated by it none the less. As far as the acting of Zooey Deschanel that someone previously mentioned, has anyone ever seen her play someone who wasn't stoic? I think it works, and she is cute. The cyborg guy was a little more creepy than I would care for, but other than that, I have been very entertained. Like others have said, this is not "Wizard" it is Tin Man, the Wizard isn't even called the Wizard, he is the Mystic Man. I think I would buy it on DVD, unless the next 2 installments suck, but I doubt that would be that case. Richard Dreyfuss doesn't do sucky movies... (at least none that I've seen...)
