15 new up-and-coming chefs arrive in Miami Beach to compete for the title of Top Chef. The Quickfire Challenge challenges the chefs to creat an amuse bouche out of the appetizers that they have been eating ad the Elimination Challenge tasks them to create a unique Surf and Turf dish.
The contestants are tasked to create a unique dish using Florida citrus fruits for the Quickfire Challenge and have to create an upscale BBQ menu for the Elimination Challenge.
The chefs are challened with catching and cooking their seafood for the Quickfire Challenge and then must update a family favorite dish in a modern, lower cholesterol way for the Elimination Challenge.
The surviving 12 'cheftestants' must create an appetizer that pairs well with a popular mixed drink with the help of guest judge and mixologist Jamie Walker for the Quickfire Challenge. This episode finds the contestants building their own unique burger for the Quickfire Challenge. They are then split into two teams and tasked with creating their own signature restaurants, both the design of and the menu for the Elimination Challenge. The end results are unique.
With no contestants being eliminated in the previous episode, the chefs must re-try their Elimination Challenge and open their own signature restaurants, this time with more dishes.
The remaining contestants draw knives cooresponding to aisles in a supermarket where they have only $10 to spend on products to create a quick dish for the Quickfire Challenge. For the Elimination Challenge the chefs work as a team to create a spread for a fancy fashion party aboard a yacht.
The remaining contestants are awoken by host Padma Lakshmi where they are tasked to create a unique and tasty breakfast for her using only a few appliances. For the Elimination Challenge they are flown to the Newark Airport and must create a signature dish that can be mass produced and reheated for Executive Class airline passenger consumption.
Now in New York City, the remaining contestants are tasked to re-create a signature dish of the famed Le Cirque restaurant after all eating it for lunch. For the Elimination Challenge, they are judged by academic deans from the French Culinary Institute on creating a gourmet meal out of three basic ingredients in french cuisine.
The remaining four finalists arrive in Aspen for the Finale. They are tasked to create a signature trout dish while in the wilderness for the Quickfire Challenge and must cook a cowbot themed meal using Elk for the Elimination Challenge.
The final three contestants are challenged to create their 'dream meal' for the Finale. They must create and write their menu in 35 minutes based on the gourmet selection of food provided and then are paired with celebrity chefs who assist them in their preparation.
