Was a Respectful Fan

1 stars
Oprah and company and staff,
I am disappointed in the way your show and subjects have drifted. I know longer see this as a show of encouragement for women grounded in Truths that were once proclaimed, but a relentless platform for new twists in thinking that leads, by example, millions of well-meaning and Life-seeking seekers to a self philosophy and new relegion--ME. When I think of the genius that has been the OPRAH banner, I am saddened that I, and so many like me that hold to things that don't need to EVOLVE, am stricken with a choice that demands a personal stand. Do I spend my time and capital to be saturated with entertainment that simply does not represent my image of what, not only who God is, but what candidate best represents the hopes of this nation. Your power there is not necessarily a good thing. You have a right to take your stand, and I have a right to disagree. I am left to make a choice to speak to as many people as will hear and understand that your show and magazine do not speak for me, on issues of faith, family, morals, government, and what is wholesome anymore. My concern for you is that there is a growing tide of average Americans that feel the same way. The rise of a personna is always followed by a fall. No one is exempt from the scrutiny of the thinking public. The painful part of this is that you have left your home and abandoned what you adhered to for so long. And not because you are wiser than before. And so goes the world. Same old story. Same old end. I predict that things will be revealed about you (not because I want it to be) and your fortune that are not complimentary and that will leave you looking like so many that could have stayed in a respected position for the duration of their lives. That is possible and also admirable to hold that respect. This is a tight-rope and a windy day for you. I am not alone. I am not amused, and I am one resolved individual, having met you once, to never be influenced by you again. And that is disapponting. I saw Stedman in the Chicago airport recently and thought of what a fine looking couple you appear to be. One can only hope that this too is, in fact, a real relationship. That is also out there for public scrutiny, as you know.
People like me that started with you in the early 80's and followed and rejoiced with every advancement have a right to be disappointed. Life is about thinking things out to highest truths, not for the self-actualizing position, but for one that elevates the truths that don't depend on you OR me. They are not subject to the changing whims of today and tv personalities . We are not all gettin' better . You used to know that. You have forgotten why you are where you are and Who allowed it. May your seeking that real God within bring you back to the only success that remains. You will take too many with you and that, my friend, is a heavy burden.
