welcome to bizarro world
1 stars
As I watched this show, I found myself wondering out loud, "Why??"
This show is not very flattering to Ms. Abdul who clearly suffers from some form of drug addiction or personality disorder. Even when she is her normal self, she is just too weird- like a little girl who hasn't grown up yet. I also wondered why she would approve of these unflattering episodes- unless she didn't find them that unflattering. I found Paula weirder than Anna Nicole in her show. And that's saying a lot.
The one bright spot is that she narrates the show herself. So you know what she's thinking and why (sort-of).

I expected to hate, hate, hate it
5 stars
I expected to hate this, but when a friend whose opinion I trust had me watch this show, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Great writers! I love the quirky tone, the offbeat humor, and the hillarious dialogue. The setting is creative & there is actually pretty filmography.
The scenarios are mad-cap, but somehow feel normal with this cast acting them out. Je l'adore!
My only problem with the show: Ann Heche's make-up. Sometimes she looks scary even though she's a naturally pretty woman.

Interesting

I really enjoy the narration/interrogation set-up. It adds a little levity to an otherwise very black (pardon the pun) show.
The premise of this show is unique, but reminds me a little bit
of The Departed.
I am admittedly a wimp so the violence really makes me upset; but it is pertinent to the story. I couldn't really get into the mystery- once I turned off the television, I wasn't curious about what happened/s to this family.
The characters seem real, but it could do with a few more realistic females. I only saw the first episode and the female characters were not fleshed out, although talked about frequently. We're supposed to see the main character's crush on the married waitress as more than just puppy-love/lust, but it was more creepy than realistic.
I'll give it another shot if I'm already watching TV, but I'm not going to TiVo.

Wait and see...

I just got married this year and this looked like an amusing look at the insanity of the wedding planning industry. I really enjoyed the beginning of the show, but then when it tried to get deep, there was something really annoying about it.
Missi Pyle was terrible... I hope she's not a recurring character. She was too much of everything and therefore unbelievable. Delta Burke was amusing. The youngest sister is too dippy, unprofessional and stupid- it's not even clear why she's in the series. The married sister was the best character, well-acted.
I think if they keep to the funny and sarcastic side of things, this show might be worthwhile... just don't get too melodramatic!!
