Cashmere Mafia Review
4 stars
When I first saw the advertisement for the show Cashmere Mafia I thought it was going to be another Sex and the City. In ways, the show is like Sex and the City but it actually has some relation to real life issues besides sex: being a working mom with children, spousal affairs and just relationships in general. These women show that you can work, be successful and maintain relationships with the opposite (or same) sex and not have to sacrifice what you want in life. They show what true female friendships are all about. No, not everyone wears 5 heels when they work or go out to dinner but this show is not a reality show. It is a show for women to get together with a bottle of wine and share in the good, the bad and ugly times in the lives of these women. Yes, there were some bed scenes and martini drinking, but that's what some adults (married or not) do. At least there wasn't any Samantha-ish bedhopping as in Sex and the City (with the exception of Juliet's dirty dog husband). I will always be a big Sex and the City fan, but I was willing to give Cashmere Mafia a chance. The show may not be for everyone, which I'm sure the writers knew, but I think that if you really give it a chance you just may end up liking it. I will admit parts of the episode were slow but pilots are never quite as good as the show's full & future potential. They have to save the good stuff for later and for the devoted viewers. Remember the Sex and the City pilot? The best part about it was Mr. Big saying Absof***inlutely . I think the next episode will tell the true potential of Cashmere Mafia. What else do you have to watch on Wednesday night?
