re: Melanie McGuire Episode 1 Season 21

1 stars
The HUGE mountain of evidence against Melanie was overwhelming and I am surprised 48 Hours did not show more of it. The defense contention that murder victim husband Bill McGuire was a heavy gambler and wife abuser turned out to be totally false at trial. Melanie was an egregious life-taker who changed her stories so many times AFTER Bill's body parts surfaced in 3 suitcases, which she denied owning until they were proven to be hers. She denied buying a gun 2 days before the murder until it was proven she DID buy the gun. Melanie's stories keep changing depending on what TV show she is doing, yet she never told the jury her story. I wonder why?

She also did not admit to being in Atlantic City and moving Bill's car hours after he went missing until AFTER the police knew about it.(Tiny pieces of Bill's dead tissue were found on both car front floor mats) What I would like to know is: Regarding that mobster letter written in my opinion by one of Melanie''s possible accomplices at Melanie''s direction......Why was it sent to Dr Bradley Miller, one of the men Melanie had a long term affair with? Why would an alleged mobster know about Melanie''s lovers???

And the guy Jim Finn who 48 Hours described as one who was deeply in love with Melanie? He was a fellow student who years earlier had a crush on her. Then they lost touch FOR YEARS. She contacted him a couple months before she murdered her husband and said, Hi Jim...Long time no see... And she acted like she wanted to see him, while asking if he knew where she could borrow or buy a gun because she said her husband was getting weird. When police told Finn she was just playing him to get a gun and she was already involved with a lover, Finn was hurt and then co-operated with police from that point on...

Melanie refused to give Bill's sister his auto license number so the sister could report him missing, yet Melanie had a special ability to memorize all the VIN numbers and license numbers of family & friends. She wouldn't even look up the auto license number. hmmm

She said she had no time to grieve. She left the 10 minute funeral service early and when asked if she would help find the killer by Bill's closest friend Jon Rice, Melanie said she was too busy getting on with her personal life.

Melanie changed her stories a LOT, especially after Bill''s suitcases suddenly popped up. 48 Hours left out much of the real story, but I guess they were mostly intent on showing how a killer''s mind works via the diaries than in presenting the actual facts of the case...

I am very disappointed that a murderer was allowed to vent venomous raging anger toward her victim, toward those who brought her to justice, and even anger toward one of her lovers for cooperating with police. And I am upset that 48 Hours called the victim a 2-bit con, which was so untrue and uncharacteristic of this usually fine show. 48 Hours, you owe the deceased victim's family a profuse apology. He was the primary caretaker of his two children and a very fine man.
