Weeds lost something...and kept the wrong things

5 stars
I love Weeds, it's a great series and something that has helped to show us what TV can offer us when it starts talking TRUTH about society and the divides between classes and races. It shows how such a happy and clean community can have its shady lanes.

But they've taken the racial and morality issues quite without prudence. The show does NOT in any way help to make these divides any less prevalent. Sure, Celia and Halia had their black/white moment and then worked it out together. However, both Blacks and Mexicans are still portrayed as "dealer/grower", meaning the "root" of the drug issue.

Negative characters that represent their respective ethnicity for the duration of their role WITHOUT an effort to show that they are somehow remorseful OF or have been affected BY their decisions in life can create a fictitious world of inconsequential exploration of vices that in real life carry SERIOUS penalties.
